Some of the best times I’ve had DJ’ing is when I’ve gone a little bit old school. I have a strong affection for 80′s hip-hop and R&B, along with new wave and pop. There’s something about it that kind of takes you back, all the way to the school homecoming dances where you got to slow dance with your seventh-grade crush, remembering all its terrible awkwardness. Somehow it’s still a fond memory.

I like to insert them randomly in my party playlists and wait. All of a sudden, in the middle of the dancefloor, faces change and a huge roar erupts. People react to an old favorite. I love it. Probably too much.
